Visible Leadership

There are different types of leaders and many different leadership styles.  However, in order to become the most effective leader one can be, the leadership must be visible.  Now, I am not saying go out and make sure everyone knows what you are doing and while you are at it be sure to include the press and Public Affairs so everyone can know.  Not saying this at all.  What I mean by visible leadership, is just that simple...Be visible to your people.  Don't hide in your office all day and surely when an event calls for leadership to lead it do not send your Vice or Assistant to take the lead on it.  What kind of message is being sent to those you lead when you cannot take the time to show up and show that you support what they are doing?  This visibility is especially important when it comes to affecting change.  By giving your visible support, it helps get buy-in from the rest of the organization.  If I am being asked to do something I want to know that my leadership is behind me all the way and has my back, in case something happens.  There are so man more examples that we can go through, but the main point I am trying to stress and get across to everyone is that:  YOU SHOULD NEVER BE TOO BUSY TO BE VISIBLE.

What are your thoughts?
